PACKARD to QUINCY

PACKARD, HENRY CLAY
Born in Readfield Aug. 1, 1844 (son of Oakes and Sally <Hanscom> Packard) Made a Master Mason of Lafayette Lodge Jan. 5, 1867; treasurer 1869-71; J.W. 1872; post master at Readfield 1872-1877l selectman 1876. He is a druggist. Lives in Auburn, Maine (in 1909) where he still does a large business in the drug line and is clerk in charge of Station No. 2, Auburn P.O. (Married Annie Lucy Friend in 1868. He died in Auburn 3/14/1916).


PACKARD, STEPHEN
Born in Readfield Sept. 15, 1801 (son of Ralph and Nancy <Vose> Packard). Made a Master Mason of Lafayette Lodge May 18, 1826; J.S. 1826-27; S.S. 1828; S.D. 1831; the last until 1849. He was a cabinet maker and removed to Massachusetts. He died at the Home for Aged Men in Boston May 2, 1876. (Married Elizabeth Harris of South Boston in 1832).


PALMER, ARTHUR WALDEN
Born in Dexter, Maine Aug. 22, 1881 (son of George and Sarah <Doe> Palmer). Raised to Sublime degree of Master Mason in Lafayette Lodge May 4, 1907. Educated at Kents Hill School and Colby College. Is teaching at Haverford School for Boys at Haverford, PA (as did John A. Chase, another Mason). In company with John A. Chase Palmer the two men conduct Camp Cebennek (Chase's boys camp) on the shore of Torsey Pond, Readfield. (During the summer months) Palmer's home is Kents Hill (and during the school year was Haverford). (Married Alice Owen of Auburn, a Colby classmate, in 1908. He died 2/6/1948. Place of burial unknown)


PEABODY, BARRAK CECIL
Born in Searsport, Maine July 11, 1866 (son of Albert and Emily <Payson> Peabody) Made a Master Mason of Lafayette Lodge Feb. 10, 1892. Formerly M.C.R.R. station agent at several stations on that road. Is not an undertaker in business in Portland. (Married Alice Proctor in Waterville in 1892. Died in 1929 in Portland)


PEACOCK, ELMER ELLSWORTH "E.E."
Born in West Gardiner, Maine July 25, 1873 (son of Benjamin and Ellen <Fuller> Peacock). Made a Master Mason of Lafayette Lodge June 5, 1897; S.D. 1898; J.W. 1899; Master 1900-01; Secretary 1908; Superintendent of Schools in West Gardiner 1895-96; selectman in Readfield 1904-05; treasurer 1907; Secretary of Kennebec Agricultural Society 1907-08. Educated at Kents Hill School and principal of commercial department at the Maine Wesleyan Seminary 1896-1905. Member of the firm Beane & Beane lawyers (Oliver Beane and his son Emery O. Beane, also Masons). Lives at Kents Hill, Maine (in 1909) (Married Della Curtis of West Gardiner in 1896. Founded Camp Kiwanacook on Lake Maranacook in 1907 which later became Kamp Peacock and lastly Dixon's Camps. Peacock died in Readfield in 1950, buried Readfield Corner Cemetery. His last home was located on Church Road near the Union Meeting House)


PORTER, BYRON, DR.
Born in Vienna, Maine May 11, 1802 (son of Benjamin and Eliza <Barton> Porter). Affiliated with Lafayette Lodge May 25, 1826. Where he received his degree is not known. Graduated from the Maine Medical School and was a doctor by profession. He died in Worcester, MA (Feb. 2, 1871 of consumption, buried Central Cemetery, Beverly, MA. Married Eliza Morse)


QUNICY, WILLIAM BRAZER
Born in Neponset, MA Feb. 3, 1885 (son of William and Mary <Adams> Quincy). Made a Master Mason of Lafayette Lodge Nov. 3, 1906. Member of the Winthrop R.A.C. and Trinity Commandery K.T. and Lafayette Chapter O.E.S. Is now in an insurance house in Boston and lives in Dorchester, MA (in 1909). (Married Grace Chase of Livermore in 1915. Died in 1958, place of burial unknown)
